Here are some external things that you can do to protect yourself and your colleagues and  loved ones from possible infection with COVID19.

  1. Stay home to flatten the curve. At this point we shouldn’t have to wait for government officials to tell us to stay in.  This virus has proven to be highly contagious and limiting contact is between each other is one of our best ways to limit the spread at this time.
  2. Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth as much as possible. WAsh your hands frequently with warm sudsy soap and water for 20-30 seconds. When I am washing my hands I like to imagine someone I love and I envision a cascade of water pouring over them, washing away any harmful substances, pathogens, pain and despair out of their lives.
  3. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and dispose of tissue properly. Alternatively you can also cough into the fold of your elbow.
  4. Practice social distancing, some say three feet others say six feet. Droplets after a person sneezes can float in the air for up to 3 hours.
  5. Practice extra cleaning on all frequently touched surfaces, I read that COVID19 can stay behind on a surface for 9 hours or longer. Please check on the coronavirus.gov because as the research comes in so does more information and clarity around how long the virus lives on surfaces. Also the website can tell you what commercial cleaners kill the virus.

What follows here are some things that come from the inside that boost your immune system and bring peace to chaos.

  1. Connect with loved ones. Today I received two phone calls from people I had not spoken to in a long, long time.  I also reached out to several people with whom I have not been in touch.  It was absolutely up lifting.  Love heals releasing all kinds of endorphins, oxytocin, dopamine and more in the body’s own healing cornucopia.
  2. Turn on your relaxation response with singing, chanting, prayer, dance, meditation, art, journaling, making love, yoga, TaiChi/QQiGong! All of these activities lead to moment to moment awareness and all of these things boost your immune system.
  3. When you feel anxious or panicky learn to tune in to your emotional frequency and move through these emotions in a healthy proactive way. Stay tuned I will be coming to you with an separate newsletter on dealing with emotional alarms and emotional red lights as well as emotional green lights.  For now remember the practice of gratitude.  Gratitude is a magic emotion that can instantly change everything the moment you put it into action.  In the meantime who are you staying home for?  #FlattenTheCurve
